"Forget the “trendy” zip code, this “true relic” of the “old Meatpacking District” has held steady with “first-rate” steaks since “forever” (actually 1868), with “historic” chophouse decor “as evidence”; “pro” service is a given, while portions sized “to feed a family of six” help make the “high-roller” prices “worth it.” - Zagat

"For sheer quality, nothing can beat the Homestead. When you order a porterhouse for two, a prodigious steak arrives, as thick as a fat book and twice as heavy." - NY Times

"The restaurant maintains its strong relationships with their butchers, allowing them to get their first pick of beef. Nothing but prime dry aged meat - always has been and always will be." - NY Daily News

"Any way you carve it, this place stands the test of time." - Time Out New York

Katie Couric Katharine McPhee
Katie Couric doesn’t live life like a rapper. The daytime queen declined a bottle of Cristal sent over when she dined at Old Homestead Steakhouse on Ninth Avenue. But Couric — who had stopped in for dinner with pals — did accept a lobster claw. After she admired a dish served to the table next to hers, its recipient “promptly ripped off a claw and gave it to Couric,” explained a spy. “The lobster guy then chatted it up with her.” But when more customers began to crowd Couric, staffers had to ensure she had privacy, even “rejecting another patron who tried sending her a bottle of champagne.” Katharine McPhee was spotted waiting for a friend at the bar at Old Homestead Steak House in the Meatpacking District

SOPRANOS' Has a Beef Tate Donovan
It was a family-style dinner at the Meatpacking District's Old Homestead Steakhouse when James Gandolfini, dressed in a track suit just like his infamous mob boss TV character Tony Soprano, rolled in with three beefy pals. The threesome knocked off a few slabs of porterhouse and sirloin steaks, ordered several bottles of expensive Italian wine and finished with Macallan Scotch. A week prior to Gandolfini’s visit, Drea de Matteo from the show was there with over a dozen relatives. “Argo” star Tate Donovan was hungry for a caveman diet the other night, dropping into the Old Homestead Steakhouse in the Meatpacking District with a pretty brunette and chowing down on sirloin and petit filet mignon at the bar.
